It's hard to determine the sensitivity threshold of a patient, with children being both highly sensitive and fearful. Many shots, such as palatal, mandibular blocks, nasal palatine, and intraligamental are painful to most patients regardless of their sensitivity level. The VibraJect effectively eliminates the pain, and the fear, of receiving an injection.
Using the VibraJect routinely will eliminate the fear and pain associated with an injection, and will increase patient satisfaction.
The need for topical anesthetic or block injections, and the time for them take effect, are eliminated. You can also treat several quadrants in one single visit, cutting down the number of times the patient needs to return for treatment.
Usually no, but the first time this is used on a patient, they should be informed they will feel a slight vibration, but there will be no pain.
As with anything new, it takes a few uses to get accustomed to the slight change. Most importantly, there is no need to alter your injection technique.
The VIbraJect clip can be positioned at the top of the syringe barrel, and the position of the barrel has no effect on the vibrations transmitted to the needle.
Since there is no On/Off switch on these motors, twisting of the blue end cap is how you turn it On and Off.
As you slowly twist the end cap clockwise, the motor will engage and start to vibrate. Once vibration starts, you should stop twisting the end cap immediately. The blue end cap should not be screwed all the way down! Tightening the end cap all the way down can restrict the motor's ability to spin, and cause it to turn off again, possibly damaging the motor.
To turn off the motor, twist the end cap counter-clockwise until the vibration stops.
